Blue-Beamers, WTC1&2 No-Planers Take Note: There is NO 3-D Holographic Projection Technology

by Martin Truther on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:31pm

I claim:

THERE IS NO PUBLICLY-KNOWN TECHNOLOGY THAT IS CAPABLE OF PROJECTING AN IMAGE INTO 3D SPACE IN ORDINARY AIR VIEWABLE FROM 360 DEGREES WITHOUT A REFLECTIVE SURFACE BETWEEN THE VIEWER AND THE APPARENT OBJECT.   NO PUBLICLY-KNOWN TECHNOLOGY DOES THIS AS OF FEBRUARY 2011.

What does exist:

1. Variations on the "Ghost" illusion where a semi-transparent mirror or glass presents a superimposed image of an off-stage object into the stage space.

2. 2-D representations of 3D objects on computer displays or projection screens.

3. 3-D representations of 3D objects on computer displays or projections screens (even building walls) that rely on separate images for the left and right eyes that require special viewing glasses based on red-blue filters, polarized light, fast shutters interleaving left and right images, etc.

4. Projections on water drops or other fast-moving particles/objects in the air like bicycle spokes or clock mechanisms. Example:

5. The old "floating quarter" trick using two parabolic mirrors: What you saw only occurs with parabolic mirrors if your looking into the hole. http://www.amazon.com/3D-Mirror-Scope-Illusion-Creator/dp/B001TFV4BE

6. Psychotic and/or psychedelic hallucinations.

7. An Army paper on Strontium Barium Niobate crystals as a hologram storage medium: http://www.dtic.mil/cgi-bin/GetTRDoc?AD=ADA338490&Location=U2&doc=GetTRDoc.pdf

What does not exist:

1. Star Wars holograms like R2D2's projection of Princess Leia or the animated chess pieces in the "let-the-wookie-win" scene.

I am willing to defend the above statement against all comers because I've wasted too many hours winning this argument in the past that have gone down the memory hole of Facebook.  I challenge anyone to produce an example of 3-D "holographic" projection that can be seen in ordinary air without reflective panels or water drops or fast-moving parts and is visible through a full 360 degrees surrounding.

IN SUMMARY:

I don't have faith that 3-D laser projection  systems or other blue-beam technologies exist myself, but I respect people's right to believe in undemonstrated technology , if it makes life better for them.
